Origaminception

Looks like you've stumbled onto something free!

I can spend hours on Pinterest pinning and drooling over the most random things. And there have been several times that I accidentally stumble onto that part of the internet where people are just so generous. So I thought to include them here and of course impart something of my very own that you can download and use.

I love origami, I especially love functional origami. Amazing really all the things you can do with paper. So I did stumble upon an origami tutorial when I was searching for desk organizers. Here's the awesome pen holder tutorial

Pen holder tutorial here!
And here is my version.

As you can see, I've done a little bit of an inception! Dun dun dun! Yep, I didn't just stop at folding paper, I made my very own rubber stamp of another origami paper airplane then stamped it out to create this cutesy pen holder.

If you plan on doing this project, make sure to use a type of paper that's heavier than your usual copy paper but not too heavy as a board paper. That means choosing something more than 80-90 gsm. Why is that you may wonder? Functional origami has to literally be functional unless you want it to be flimsy and not last long and I'm sure you don't.

You can download the paper airplane design in A4 paper here, if you don't have the stamp yet. If you're going to make your own stamp, you can copy the paper airplane template here. And I solemnly swear to have better photos next time.

Princess Pegasus in Spring Filled Korea!

Traveling is one of my favorite things. I can't seem to stay put in one spot for too long, unless I'm intensely distracted with arts and crafts or anything that will get me distracted. Hence, the name Princess Pegasus (you can blame my boyfriend for that). And it doesn't matter too where I go as long as there's something I can take out of the trip.

However, this year was extra special because my sister turned 18! Woohoo adult life! We were initially setting out to go to Japan during the summer (cherry blossoms anyone?!) But we changed to Korea, the southern one, instead. Great timing too because my stepdad had business to do there, so he had his supplier/colleague/friend help us out during the trip.

Literally stopped in the middle of the road for these TULIPS!
My first impression of S.Korea, I LOVE SPRING!!! I just really truly deeply do! We arrived early in the morning and was greeted by a lovely chilly breeze. Ooh layering! Layer all the clothes seriously! It was Easter Sunday and our hotel was literally steps away from the cathedral, so that was the first thing we did. Oh, and right across the church is Cath Kidston (let me expound my madness for her on a different post).

What do you do in church? Chase after pigeons doi!
When we were still planning out to go to Japan I already researched on the different places I needed to visit for arts & crafts. The sudden change of destination left me with very little research on places to see for my crafty supplies. Nonetheless, I was able to find this everything store (no, that's not the name because I forgot) in Nandaemun where I got a couple of the best ink pads there is in the world. Myeongdong area had a lot to offer too. They had those little boutique stores of trinkets (I died). And of course DAISO!

I swear by StāzOn ink pads. If you're into stamping you should get one every day of the week haha!
I was also planning to take some workshops on calligraphy and washi paper making. Unfortunately, I couldn't find calligraphy workshops online when I was in the PH still. Bop in the head because when we visited Hanok Village, there were traditional calligraphy classes, guh! Also they had paper making workshops but was way out in the country side. All was well though because I had paper aplenty from Insa-dong!

This trip was definitely one that will go down to must go back to list. I wasn't able to fully explore the places (and take tons of photos because it was all too distracting). Also, there are classes to be taken there and crafty places I have yet to discover. You haven't seen the last of me Korea! I shall be back and hopefully during spring too!

(man, those things are hard to spell and pronounce!)

About CKāQE

Hey there!

So you might be wondering how the heck to pronounce CKāQE. Let me start you of with its etymology (yes it has one ha!) It is actually a couple of letters that represent my full name. C is for Christina, Kā is my nickname Kara, Q my last name, and E my middle name.

ckāqe?! whut?!

Quite complicated when you look at it, blame it on my 6th grade self. I invented it for my very first email; that age where creating an online name had to be unique. And it just stuck with me.

My nickname is pronounced as Kara with a short a. But for the purposes of making CKāQE simpler to pronounce I made it a long ā as in āte. The E is silent much like when you say CAKE.

Did you now notice how very close those two words are? If you're thinking what I'm thinking then you got that right! Say CKāQE as you would CāKE! Sweet isn't it?

Now you know! :)
